Bellmouth Tower

A "Bellmouth Tower" was required to enable an ocean-going sub-sea cable-laying vessel to deliver a cable to the undersea trench without damage to the cable. With short notice, MCC were required to procure materials, fabricate, paint and deliver the Bellmouth Tower in just 3 weeks.

Total weight of structure :- 15 tons.

The slides illustrate how the tower was built upside down for transport requirements, and then topped and tailed to the correct position for installation on the cable laying vessel. All welded joints were ultrasonically tested. Paint specification was to International Paints´ marine standard.
