Humber Gateway Offshore Windfarm
Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm Project
Fabrication of WTG Sea-Fastenings
The Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm is located eight (8) kilometres off the East Yorkshire coast, just north of the mouth of the River Humber, The wind farm comprises of seventy three (73) Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and has an installed capacity of up to 219MW.
During the WTG installation phase, MCC were awarded the contract to fabricate and install the WTG sea-fastenings for the project which included Tower Grillages, Nacelle Grillages, Blade Rack Grillages, Auxiliary Crane Rest and various access platforms.
The photographs of our works show the Blade Racks which house the WTG manufacturer’s (Vestas) ‘cassettes’ used during the installation of the turbine blades.
The project despite being performed on an extremely tight schedule was completed on time and on budget. The blade racks were fabricated and installed in a 4 week window.
The wind farm is capable of generating enough electricity to power up to 170,000 UK homes, which is more than one and a half times the number of homes in Hull.
