Lincs Offshore Windfarm-Foundations
Fabrication of Foundation sea-fastenings
MCC were contracted to fabricate and install all of the sea-fastening structures relating to the installation of foundation components for the Lincs Offshore Wind Farm (monopiles and transition pieces).
Additionally we were asked to construct a hydraulically operated Monopile Upending Frame, which is utilised to lift the 400t Monopiles from the horizontal sea fastening position into the vertical installation position.
The Lincs Offshore Wind Farm is located 8 kilometres (5.0 miles) off Skegness on the east coast of England. Construction of the 270 megawatt (MW) project began in 2010 using Siemens 3.6 MW Wind Turbine Generators.
Centrica Energy’s Lincs offshore wind farm was officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg on 1 August 2013.
Lincs is now capable of producing enough clean renewable energy for over 200,000 homes, equivalent to around two thirds of the homes in Lincolnshire.
