Linkspan Restraint System

Due to tidal conditions at the port of Dun Laoghaire the linkspan deck, which is used to offload vehicles from the ferry decks, was subjected to excessive movements in certain tidal conditions when the ferry berth was vacated.

To ease on the wear and tear of the connection hinge pins the linkspan deck is now restrained on two clamping mechanisms, which hold the linkspan deck clear of the water when not in use.

MCC supplied, fabricated, painted and installed the restraint system (one on the port side, one on the starboard side) of the linkspan deck.
