The London Array is a planned offshore wind farm under construction in the outer Thames Estuary in the United Kingdom. With 1,000 megawatt (MW) capacity, it is expected to become the world´s largest offshore wind farm.
The site is 17.77 miles (28.60 km) off the North Foreland on the Kent coast in the area of Long Sand and KentishKnock, and will cover 90 square miles (230 km2) between Margate in Kent and Clacton in Essex. The first foundation was installed in March 2011.
MC Construction were contracted to fabricate and install all of the sea fastening for this project, some 440t in total.
This included the sea fastening frames for the Monopiles, and Transition Pieces that will be installed as part of the first phase of this prestigious project.
Additionally we fabricated the sea fastening stools for the Anode Cages, Anode Sleeve and skid beams for the "Piliegripper" and also the runway beams for the upending tool, to very tight tolerances, as dictated by the design brief.
