Tipping Cradle
MC Construction where contracted to fabricate and install a “tipping cradle” which was to be used to remove a 400 tonne dead weight dock gate out of the water for repair. The dock gate with ballast removed would have a floating weight of 200 tonnes. The gate was floated onto the arms of the cradle then with crane assistance the gate would be tipped out of the water onto the quay side then to be skidded into a purpose made repair shop. The tipping cradle was also able to return the gate into the water by the same method in reverse. Our photographs demonstrate the construction SWL testing and installation of the tipping cradle and the dock gates been removed from the water.
